BS EN1303 Door Lock Cylinder

1. Category of use

One category is identified.

 

Grade 1: For use by people with a high incentive to exercise care and with a small chance of mis-use. 

 

2. Durability

Three grades are identified according to the number of test cycles achieved.

 

Grade 4 : 25 000 Cycles

 

Grade 5 : 50 000 Cycles

 

Grade 6 : 100 000 Cycles

 

3. Door mass

One grade is identified:

 

Grade 0 : No requirement

 

4. Fire resistance

Two grades are identified:

 

Grade 0 : Not suitable for fire/smoke resistant door accessories

 

Grade 1 : Suitable for fire/smoke door accessories subject to satisfactory assessment of the contribution of the cylinder to the fire resistance of the specified fire/smoke door assemblies. Such assessment is beyond the scope of this European standard (see EN 1634-1).box 4), it must be possible to demonstrate compliance with the Essential Requirements of the Construction Products(Amendments)Regulations.

 

5. Safety

One grade is identified:

 

Grade 0 : No requirement

 

6. Corrosion and Temperature Resistance

Four grades are identified according to EN 1670:

 

Grade 0 : No corrosion or temperature resistance requirements

 

Grade A : BS EN 1670 Grade 3 corrosion resistance (96 hours NSS): no temperature resistance requirements

 

Grade B ：No corrosion resistance: resistance to -20/+80 C temperature extremes

 

Grade C ：BS EN 1670 Grade 3 corrision resistance: resistance to -20/+80C temperature extremes

 

There is no difference between the inside and outside of the cylinder and/or door.After the test is completed, the cylinder must operate.

 

7. Key related security

The main requirements of the six grades are summarized in Table 1 below:

8. Attack resistance

The main requirements of the three grades are summarized in Table 2 below:

Keyed To Differ(KD)

Cylinders to differ are all operated by individual keys all different to each other. Each lock cylinder has a corresponding key.

Keyed Alike Suites(KA)

In the same keying arrangement, all cylinders are operated by the same key. This gives an arrangement where one key can open a group of locks. Not to be confused with the primary key suite (see below). Cylinders can also be similar to keyed euro profile, oval and rim cylinders.

Common Entrance Suite

Each individual key is opened its own lock and the common entrance.

 

Master key Suites(MK)

A group of cylinders, each equipped with a separate service key, is also operated by one special key called the master key. The keyed alike suites groups can also be merged into any master key.

Construction Key(CK)

Construction key can operate the cylinder during construction period.After construction is ended up，Master Key can insert the cylinderand change the pin combination.The construction key can not openthe same cylinder lock any more.

Grand Mater Key Suites(GMK)

Grand master key suite is called a sub suite.In these cases, all cylinders irrespective of their sub suite, are controlled by a key as the grand master key.
