The Door Lock features a latch bolt that is operated by the lever from either the inside or the outside, providing full accessibility from both sides at all times. Unlike more restrictive lock types that disable one lever under certain conditions, this lock allows free lever operation from both directions under normal use, meaning any person on either side of the door can retract the latch bolt simply by pressing the lever handle. This makes the lock well-suited for standard interior doors where convenient, bidirectional access is the primary requirement, such as in offices, hallways, or rooms shared by multiple occupants. The latch bolt functions via spring action — it extends automatically when the door closes and is retracted by lever pressure from either side — ensuring that the door remains closed and latched without any additional manual steps.

In addition to the lever-operated latch bolt, the lock is equipped with a dead bolt that provides a secondary, positive locking function. This dead bolt is operated exclusively by key from both the inside and the outside, meaning it cannot be engaged or disengaged through the lever handle alone. To lock the door, a key must be turned on either side to project the dead bolt into the strike; to unlock it, the key must be turned again from either side to retract the dead bolt. This dual-key operation ensures that the dead bolt can only be controlled by someone in possession of the key, adding a deliberate layer of security on top of the always-accessible latch bolt. The combination of a freely operable latch bolt for everyday convenience and a key-controlled dead bolt for enhanced security makes this lock a practical choice for doors that require both easy daily use and reliable key-based access control.
