Modern door chain locks add security in a similar way to a bolt. However, they allow a door to be opened to approximately 150 mm and still keep it securely fastened. The occupant can check a caller’s identity before fully opening the door.
A ‘door guard’ provides very good security and is more robust than many door chains. The ball knob enters the gap between the metal bars in the closed-door position but the gap in the slide bar is not wide enough to release it when the door is open.
The ‘Security-chain’ is concealed in the door frame and has a push button operation for quick, easy locking. Like other chains and guards, it can only be unlocked when the door is closed.
