Door Knob Lock: Made by using a mortise lock, door knob locks secure your doors from unwanted intruders. They may be used on all types of doors such as: internal (front and back doors), external (sidewalk and exterior doors) and folding doors. Door Knob Locks secure your home against burglary. It may be an inexpensive way to improve the security of your home. These locks come in a variety of styles, and designs which makes it possible to find one that will fit in your homes design and color preference.

Door Knob Lock Cylinder: Mortise locks, also called Mortise Lock cylinder or double cylinder locks, consist of two cylindrical cylinders. One of the two is attached to the door jamb with a head screwdriver screw and the other is attached to the door with a screw. Door Knob Locks need a bit of force applied on both sides of the lock to open it. The locks made by mortise lock use a pin that is forced through the center of the pin hole and then inserted into the jambs to make a seal. They are very secure and can be installed easily if you have the proper tools and installation procedures.

To install a Mortise Lock, first, you will need two screws that run through the door jamb and into the studs behind the door jamb. You can use a screwdriver to remove the bolt that holds the faceplate in place. There will be two screws that are hidden by the faceplate. To remove the faceplate, you need to unscrew the two screws that are located at the back of the faceplate. Now, the two screws are removed and the faceplate can be removed. Install the new faceplate and screw it into place.
