The latch bolt is designed for convenient everyday use, allowing the door to be opened or closed from either side using the lever handle. This means that whether you are inside or outside the room, you can simply pull the lever down to retract the latch bolt and open the door, or push the lever up to extend it and secure the door in a closed position. No key is required for this operation, making it ideal for frequent access.
The dead bolt, on the other hand, provides an additional layer of security and can only be operated from the outside with a key or from the inside with a thumb turn. From the exterior, a key is inserted and turned to lock or unlock the dead bolt, ensuring that the door cannot be opened by force or by manipulating the lever. From the interior, a thumb turn is provided for quick and easy engagement or disengagement of the dead bolt, allowing occupants to secure the room from within without needing a key.
