Commercial heavy duty door hinges are specialized hardware designed to attach multiple heavy objects to a door and thus stabilize how they turn. They are most commonly referred to as heavy duty, ball-bearing hinge, or heavy-duty ball bearing hinge. These are specifically designed to work effectively with extremely heavy doors which are often used in busy commercial areas. The hinges are very important because the heavy door creates an enormous amount of torque when it is closed, therefore the hinges must be made from materials which are strong enough to handle this amount of force while being sturdy and smooth enough to prevent dirt and finger prints from damaging the hinges.

To determine which door hinges work best for a particular application, it is necessary to take several factors into consideration. First of all, the amount of torque needed to operate the door should be taken into account. The more torque the door hinges have to operate, the weaker they become in the event of a hard collision or excessive weight and impact. Secondly, a door which has a large section of heavy-duty glass is more difficult to maintain than one that has a section of plain glass. The door hinge also need to be designed for high usage areas; therefore they need to be robust enough to handle both normal and heavy traffic areas.

In most cases, the use of a roller or plate-type hinge will be the most cost-effective over other types of hinge design, as these are the most common. For high security access doors, ball bearing or sliding door hinges tend to be the most practical choice because they provide better security and are more resistant to impact and wear than most other designs. Hinged security door hinges offer excellent security against burglary because they prevent quick access by providing a thicker, reinforced frame for securing the door. Most manufacturers recommend the use of a heavy duty spring steel lock secure the hinges of your entrance door. These locks may be expensive but are extremely effective in preventing unauthorized access.
